Broadlie in Bloom is a flower farm that's roots come from the glorious variety of plants, trees and shrubs that have been curated for this family home and grounds in North Ayrshire. This 130+ year old plot is home to a wide variety of perennials, trees, shrubs and plant species.

Iona Marcroft, owner and grower, trained and worked as an Architect for 20 years. During this time she has gained experience in property marketing, property management, and still enjoys taking commissions for hand drawn building portraits in her spare time, www.yourhouseframed.com. Brought up on a farm nearby, she has the experience of the challenges of working outdoors and maintaining the land first hand.

After moving to Ayrshire in 2013, she has become a self taught gardener. She has always enjoyed using the abundant available plant life from the garden, dried and fresh, to create her own home floristry displays and this pleasure has influenced the direction of the business .

Her enjoyment and interest in plants led to her turning her vegetable plot into a cut flower garden in 2023 and soon after the formation of a more structured ‘flower field’ followed. Previous owners of the house and grounds have carefully curated many beautiful trees, foliages and perennials which formed the basis on which the initial wholesale business could be formed. In addition, there are mature woods, patches of wild meadow and hidden gems which have lain untamed for years.

2023 was spent creating new cutting beds in the field, and planting a range of seasonal bulbs and perennials to add to the range of established narcissi, daffodils, flowering perennials and seasonal foliage already established.

As the years follow Broadlie in Bloom aims to expand the range of annuals, perennials, and foliage on offer, as it learns more about the new species which grow best in this soil and micro climate, ensuring sustainability of the business is at the heart of our decision making.
